headed by the stunning singer/songwriter miss benny, cooldown
originally started out as a duo (with greg price on production) but
has now expanded into a collective of premier vancouver musicians
and producers who are busy working in collaboration with miss benny
on new material as follow-up to the highly-acclaimed debut ep
"ether", released on map music in may 1999.
"ether" has been described as "a seductive concoction of dreamy
melodies and groovy rhythms," "pristine, spacious and
ultra-rhythmically dynamic," "funky grooves and soothingly
seductive vocals," "urban sensibility and ethereal grace in a pop
structure," and "a concoction of sweet juices dripping with
mesmerizing beats."
the full length album "vivid" will be released in the new year, and
will feature a whole collection of new songs plus two
specially-commissioned remixes from "ether". while comparisons to
massive attack, lamb and others were consistantly flung around by
the press when referring to "ether", the new album "vivid" promises
to be even more eclectic and awe-inspiring, and will establish
cooldown featuring miss benny as an act to watch for the year 2000.
