Fluid Recordings' Manchester Wonderboys have done it again with two
newies of different styles. The first tune on this EP is an odd, sexy,
& less bold uplifting trance with different twists not found in their
early productions and remixes. Unlike the other more trancey affairs
that drop into a wash of more dreamy synth and acid, "Unknown Origin"
features distinctive flavors of minimal hypnotic grooves. "Lazy Days,"
the more popular of the two, is an excellent example of what these duo
do at its absolute best with subtle, yet powerful arrangements of
evocative swirling synth lines. The creative combination of funky
percussion, eclectic samples, and minimal instrumentation suggests a
hint of depth of progressive house that currently wins big points in
both Sasha & Digweed's books. Pretty enough for the crowds and funky
enough for a Sasha moment. The Ambient Mix of Unknown Origin was placed
as the first track on Parks & Wilson's new Mix CD.
