"Puzzled" is the right title for the new album by MEZ aka Ralf
Metzler, member of the Elektronauts from Berlin. At first, the
thirteen parts do not seem to match at all nor to show a picture.
But after a few times listenning to it, a connecting element comes
to the foreground, the sample. Embedded in all different sound
constructions, the various parts form something like an endless-loop.
The colors reach from the acoustic "Puzzled" to the dark and technoid
sounds of "Crusher", painting the picture which is made of single
puzzle pieces. Naming that combination of klings & klongs and
gripping but not boring song structures is not easy, and ends easily
in new-creations like Elektrofolk or, as proposed by the label,
Loungepunk. For sure it's listening, rather claiming all your
attention than being background music.
