What exactly is the SPINNING WHEEL project ?
First of all SPINNING WHEEL is based on a philosophy.
The philosophy is simply described as 'real people', real doing'
(people who know what they do), 'retro meets progressive'
(understanding the context, realizing the influences),
'open minded spirit' (no stereotyped thinking, directness)
Obviously SPINNING WHEEL is not only about philosophy it's also
about real business.
The SPINNING WHEEL business is divided into four main areas:
The Label: 'retro meets progressive' - sampling technology meets
real jazz musicians. The devision into the three different
sub-labels 'SPINNING WHEEL', 're:spins' and 'progressive spins'
reflects these influences. Expect some surprises in the future -
especially because of the current disorientation of the music
industry. Real doing!
The DJ collective: the roots of the whole project and meanwhile
the main driver and distributor of the SPINNING WHEEL philosophy.
Various artist shape the label in a different manner. Their
open-minded spirit is obvious and you can always see their fun
and love in dispute with the musical context.
The producer team: Reinhard Wimmer and Thomas Aichberger are
forming the symbiosis between jazz-related influences and relaxed
electronic dance-floor style - far away from mainstream and short-dated
trends. It's not immoderate to say those 'real people' transform almost
perfectly their vision into music and fuse these styles together in an
ideal way.
