Delroy Wilson (5 October 1948-6 March 1995) was a Jamaican ska, rock steady
and reggae singer.
He released his first single "Emy Lou" in 1961 for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd at
the age of 13. His transition to rock steady in the late 1960s produced many
hits including "Conquer Me" and "Riding For A Fall". After leaving Studio One
he continued to record into the 1990s.
In 1972, Michael Manley's Peoples National Party chose "Better Must Come" as
their election campaign song. A Bob Andy produced song, ôThe Last Thing On My
Mindö rose to No. 1 in Jamaica. Delroy was produced by Bunny Lee through the
1970s.
Delroy Wilson died on 6 March 1995 at Kingston's UWI hospital from
complications following a liver ailment.
