Despite Prince Far I`s gravelly voice going through a rough
patch at the time of recording, "Musical History" still has
some really special moments. None more so than the opening
number which kicks into action with a lively rockers riddim
and a catchy chant by Prince Far I. Other tracks of note are
the pro-marijuana "Tell Them About Jah Love" which
criticises governments for criminalising the drug and
meanwhile buying and supplying arms ("The ganja never kill
no one/ The gun kill a lot of man/ The knife take a lot of
life"). Good sentiment, as I would say ! Prince Far I
actually attempts a kind of singing in "More We Are
Together" which works well (reminds me of Ninjaman`s more
recent attempts at singing rather than toasting !). Some may
find side two of the album is heavy going in comparison,
with no real stand out tracks. But anyone who has enjoyed
the likes of "Free From Sin" will appreciate what follows,
as Prince Far I chants some heavy Jah Jah vibes in between
puffs of his big spliff (nice front cover too !).The above
