█░ the hottest drum'n'bass artists on the New York scene. It's ░█
█░ easy to see why, based on the evidence of this debut album, ░█
█░ which features a sound that draws equally on the dark ░█
█░ drum'n'bass work of artists like Photek and Source Direct, ░█
█░ while also incorporating some of the party-time flavor of ░█
█░ big beat practitioners like Fatboy Slim and the Chemical ░█
█░ Brothers. "Raw Dog" is presented here in a tight, ░█
█░ claustrophobic mix centered on a funky saturated synth riff ░█
█░ and what sounds like actual guitar, and "Venusian Jazz" ░█
█░ balances an ominous chordal backdrop with what sounds actual ░█
█░ violin. "Space Jelly" is almost forbidding in its rhythmic ░█
█░ complexity, but in a good way. There are a few tracks that ░█
█░ stretch too few ideas too far, but for the most part this is ░█
█░ a hugely enjoyable album. Here's hoping for more from ░█
