Pre-release info from Pressure Sounds:
WeÆre all rather excited about the next Pressure Sounds
release (PSCD/LP 035) which continues our long association
with the legendary Prince Far I. Long regarded as THE
classic Far I album æPsalms For IÆ was produced by the
legendary Lloydie Slim and features the Prince exhorting the
Psalms with the brimstone and fire delivery of an Old
Testament prophet underpinned by a selection of some of the
heaviest rhythms of the mid seventies. The sleeve notes
feature an interview with Lloydie Slim himself (one of the
great unsung heroes of reggae music) and the music comes
direct from the original master tapes. ThereÆs one
additional track on the CD release, a version to Cornell
CampbellÆs æNatty Dread In A Greenwich TownÆ, which Far I
uses for Psalm 48 and was originally released as a 7ö in
Jamaica on the Book Of Psalms label. Release date is 2 April
2002.
After some self-productions which appeared on Pete Weston's
Micron outlet, Prince Far I hit a period which included two
of reggae's greatest DJ albums. Firstly the ``Psalms for I''
collection, a straight chant of bible word, produced by
Lloydie Slim and Micron on top of a set of ultra-tough
rhythms from Striker Lee and Scratch. This album found Far I
totally into his own style, distinct from all other DJs,
primal yet righteous -- the real ``voice of thunder''.
