▐▒▌ ONUCD72 RELEASED 25.07.94 ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Long time ago in 1975 at the age of 17, Adrian Sherwood co- ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ founded Carib Gems, a label that licensed Jamaican sides for ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ release in the UK. Among them were albums by ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ pre-Revolutionaries Sly And Robbie, early Black Uhuru and ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ the great Prince Far I, the man responsible for introducing ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Adrian to the mixing desk, firstly at live shows and later ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ in the studio. In late '77 Sherwood left Carib Gems and set ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ up the Hitrun label with truck driver and melodica player Dr ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Pablo and in early '78 released "Dub From Creation". This ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ album premiered Adrians talents at the controls, dubbing up ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ rhythms laid down by Dr Pablo, Crucial Tony, "Bigga" ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Morrison, Clinton Jack and "Fish" Clarke - Prince Far I's ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ live backing band and the fledgling Creation Rebel. The ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ result was a success and further dub albums followed on ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Hitrun: "Cry Tuff Dub Encounter" (attributed to Prince Far I ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ and The Arabs); Roots Radic's "Dub To Africa" and Creation ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Rebel's second outing proper, "Rebel Vibrations", featuring ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Style Scott and Flabba Holt. Hitrun also released a string ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ of 34 12" singles, many with rhythms courtesy of Creation ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Rebel. Unfortunately the money ran out, Hitrun closed down ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ and new label 4D Rhythms was started which released the ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ epic, ahead of its time dub album, "Starship Africa" ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ recorded by Creation Rebel in '78, but not released until ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ '80. This was the only release and the label was dissolved ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ and a new project, On U Sound was founded. The rest, as they ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ say is history. The ever evolving Creation Rebel continued ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ to function, releasing several vocal and dub sets in ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ "Psychotic Jonkanoo"(1981), "Threat To Creation" (with the ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ New Age Steppers, 1981) and "Highs and Lows" (1981), as well ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ as several 7" and 10" discoplates. Although the name ceased ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ to be used, the musicians and most importantly the spirit of ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ those early Creation Rebel releases lives on under various ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ guises, Dub Syndicate and Singers & Players to name but two. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ "HISTORIC MOMENTS VOLUME 1" is the first of three aptly ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ titled and extremely long overdue delves into the On U Sound ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ archive vault. Presented here are 16 tracks of magnificent ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ dub that stem from the "Dub From Creation" and "Rebel ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Vibrations" sessions that have been deleted for nigh on 15 ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ years and are possibly two of the albums most sought after ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ and highly prized by On U completists. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Enjoy This Wikkid Release! ▐▒▌
