Here you can find and listen to a real veteran ambassador of
reggae. Dillinger started his career in the early 70s in
Kingston, Jamaica. I think I don't have to tell too much
about that place at that time. As he remembers, the first
record he made was engineered by Lee Perry. After than a
bunch of better then better producers: Phil Pratt, Joe
Gibbs, Augustus Pablo, Bunny Lee, Yabby You and so on. Then
the hit from 1976: ôCocaine in my brainö. This song put
Dillinger into the highlights and such a persons like Chris
Blackwell from Island tried to get him for an album or two.
He was on holiday in the late 80's and came back to music
biz in the 90's. This record is collaboration with Jah
Warrior guys. The label started to release and mix albums
with reggae heroes. I don't know the real reasons of that
plan but it works very well and effectively. This is the 6th
masterpiece when the different styles meet Jah Warrior dub.
Firstly I was a little bit afraid that I would loose the
unique JW feeling but these albums which I know totally
persuaded me. This time Dillinger's monoton dancehall is
laid down into the dub very professionally. Essential
dub-dancehall fusion came out from expert hands. The album
follows the traditional track/dub-track/dub path. The
dancehall legend doesn't leave even the dubs without voice
and makes them very enjoyable like just a few can do. Heavy
basslines throughout the songs added by Steve Mosco. Hughie
Izachaar's lead guitar is very special in track ôHungryö.
The horn section (Crispy Horn Section) and the bongos (Jonah
Dan) also appear sometime and give the listener an
unbelievable, authentic ôdub flyö. Dillinger does talk about
some nowadays problems actualizing an old song in ôDrunken
Junkiesö. Take it seriously
