Although it runs a little too long for the average listener,
the three-disc box set Honorary Citizen draws a
superb portraitof Peter Tosh, capturing his musical mastery
and his incendiary political rhetoric.
All of the expected songs are here, from "Legalize It" to his hit
duet with Mick Jagger, "(You Got to Walk and) Don't Looke Back,"
but what makes Honorary Citizen essential is that it compiles
rare early singles and neglected album tracks.
By including such obscurities with the familiar items,
the set presents a full, rounded picture of Tosh's talents,
making athoroughly convincing argument that he was one of
reggae's true greats.
