   ┤ `

The tracks gathered on this album fall into the category of
verbal attacks and commentaries on various public and
personal events filtered through the singular perception of
        Lee Perry, the Upsetter.

Though the origins and targets of these attacks may remain
obscure, the conviction with which they are uttered is never
in doubt. Thus "Public Jestering", featuring Winston Blake
as the fearsome Judge Winchester, remains a devastating
mockery of the Gun Courts and their policy of 'Indefinite
        Detention' during 1973 - 1976. "I'm A Dread Locks" lampoons
the utilization of Rasta as fashionable pose. The Leo
Graham tracks are a warning to enemies who might seek the
help of an Obeah man in order to attack the producer, whilst
the Jimmy and Glen track lambasts the well-known producer
Niney the Observer. Together the tracks constitute the
famous mix of humour, vitriol and power that has come to
        characterise the best Upsetter music.

        - Steve Barrow 1990 (from liner notes)

All tracks produced by Lee Perry at Black Ark Studio
