the rurals began with andy compton & pete morris, getting their
name from "rural promotions" andys club promotions outfit, and
first record label. the first vinyl release was the "space funk
e.p". after doing a few releases on the idea label (through ideal
distribution) under different aliases - green belt, rainbow garden
(with matt cundy & dean westcott) - the rurals emerged as the name
of the in house production crew. andy stopped djing for a while, as
him and pete dissapeared into "planet studio" for a time!
in the summer of 1998, a local record shop gave marie (tweek)
andy's number, she called him up, and the rurals had a vocalist!
she brought with her a bass player, pete "gurner" middleton, who
has been appearing on peng stuff since the labels birth...
the next musician to team up with the rurals was charlie hearnshaw,
a saxophonist, who was in a band with gurner (the charlie hearnshaw
quartet).
newest member is onlymatt- djing, art direction, web design and
working on studio projects.
between them they have all bases covered.
this set was recorded on 7th august 2001, being the warm-up to an
upcoming live act.
