Get Digital is a digital-only platform for many of Get Physical's future
releases. Indeed Get Physical is not switching entirely digital, but in fact
embracing and developing along with the changing trends in the independent music
market. A fresh new site and a new label will provide them with more flexibility
to release more music from their core artists as well as open the gates to groom
promising new talent. No longer will they be pigeon held to the seventeen or
eighteen twelve inch singles slots that are allotted per year, which will enable
them to expand upon their sound and hopefully support artists that they could
not before. Simon Baker & Jamie Jones have been long time DJ's in England's
underground electronic music scene, who have within the last couple of years
emerged as respected producers and have seen their works signed to labels such
as Crosstown Rebels, 20/20 Vision, Freak 'N' Chic, Poker Flat, Cocoon, Get
Physical and Connaisseur just to name a few. "Kaskazi", is their first
collaborative effort, and proves their individual strengths are even more
formidable when unified in the studio. The three versions of "Kaskazi" all
invoke a different mood and style, but still retain that jubilant flavor of the
original that caught the ears of M.A.N.D.Y. and DJ T. early in the summer.
Praise has come from all corners of the DJ spectrum, as the combination of a
galloping funk fused bass line, with the infectious vocals and clever effects
have erupted many club dance floors into a frenzy. The "Swahili" mix takes the
original on a jungle safari, where the shrieks and shrills of nocturnal beasts
can be heard throughout the mix. This take will definitely keep you on your toes
and have you wary of what is creeping up from behind you on! JJ and SB's
"Emotional Mix" veers toward slightly deeper territory. Here they have slowly
built the elements over time and congealed them with a caressing atmosphere of
lighter vocals, warm chords and fervent strings. All three of these mixes have
been executed perfectly. The original is a tried and tested DJ favorite, while
the two other mixes keep the vibe of the original in tow - and without losing
any of the magic, invoke completely different emotions into listeners.
