Some of the most noticable contributions to Blackdown's
recent 'Margins music' album featured the angelic sub-
continental vocals of Farrah, which lent the album an
essential register of authenticity when compared to the
sampled ethno-tourism of some other producers out there
right now.
Two of the finest tracks have been lopped and sweetly placed
on this here 12" with the cinematic Bollywood epicness of
'Kuri Pataka (The firecracker girl)' and 'Con-fusion' sounding
particularly lush on their vinyl pressing. 'Kuri Pataka' is a trulynotes
epic effort, setting the scene with epic orchestrations before
settling into a swinging riddim formed from rich Indian drum
samples and balancing Farrah's mango sweet tones with
Teji's urgent cries, while 'Con/fusion' could be the soundtrack
to a particularly poignant Bollywood movie scene with shimmering
drones weighted by undulating bass rhythms set to carry Farrah's
seraphic vocals into the hazy distance. The album won't be
recieving a vinyl pressing as far as we're aware, so to all
vinyl heads, look sharp!
