Quite predictably this twelve has totally floored us -
but even by Basic Replay's impeccable standards
it truly is one of the most righteous selections of
digital dub you'll ever have the pleasure of hearing.
The title track here manages to sound like a cross
between John Carpenter's soundtrack for Assault
on Precinct 13, Ramelzee & K Rob's seminal "Beat
Bop" and White Mice at his most devastating - quite
easily the most forward thinking BASS music we've
heard for months - and it was recorded over 20 years
ago!
As the liner notes articulate so well "sides like these
announced a new era in reggae... Replay Version sets
the mood - malevolent, sick and paranoid, but haunting,
and funky like a train, with cruelly brilliant effects..."
"Once Bitten" version is equally deadly, more detuned-
synths wrecking the heaving skank, while "Senci Pipe"
on the flip is just out and out minimal digital sorcery that
you'll need to listen to a dozen times before fully being
able to fathom its visionary scope.
