formed in the summer of 98 and based in central London, The Funky
Lowlives are comprised of writer/production duo John Whitehouse &
Gary Danks.
In the space of a little over two years they have created a finely
crafted blend of globally diverse rhythms, bruising beats and
atmospheric moods. They combine live instrumentation and
traditional playing techniques with the up to the minute production
skills bringing plaudits from a host of artists, producers and DJ
luminaries including David Byrne, Francois K, Joe Claussell, Matty
Heilbronn, Jazzanova, Howie B, A Guy Called Gerald,
Kruder&Dorfmeister, Stereo MCÆs, Junior Vasquez, UFO, Dr. Bob
Jones, Ashley Beedle & Groove Armada.
Their original tracks and remixes feature regularly in club charts
from New York to Berlin to Paris to Tokyo and they have been voted
single of the month in several magazines including International
DJ, Muzik, DJ and Wax.
"Ascension presents The Funky Lowlives" reflects the last two years
and is the first appetizer for their up and coming releases on
