Release Notes:
--------
The Solipsistics released a bevy of excellent, challenging and unusual pop in
the late 90s and early double-naughts - only to disappear for the last five
years or so. The band(who is led by Jeffrey Owen McGregor and a whole host of
sidemen create some of the most gripping music you`ll hear at the present. This
CD is a collection of 19 trax from their various albums(all out of print)
recorded by Earle Mankey. Some of these songs, too, are co-written by the truly
awesome and legendary Jon Brion(the Grays, himself) so the stamp of quality is
all over the place but McGregors songs are their own creatures and its his
vision and talent that make the special mark on all the material here.

"6 out o f 6! What a breath of fresh air in a climate where there are so many
stale artists all shooting for the same image and sound (!). Sparse and simple
in the best kind of way, The Solipsistics` songs stand out as wonderfully
imaginative snippets of pop that derive from a wild variety of sources. Quite
simply one of the best new artists we`ve heard all year. WOW!" - BabySue. "You
won`t know you`ve been knocked out until you`re picking yourself up off the
floor." --Amplifier, about "Careful How You Go".

"Continuing his trend for carefully crafted pop ditties that infuse piano and a
distinctive quietude that`s pleasant, yet noticeably edgy, Mr. McGregor (the
driving force behind The Solipsistics) once again invokes his unique form of
spiritual manipulation. There`s still a genuine pop core at the heart of each
Solipsistics song. It`s sensible, it`s rational and it`s inarguably capable of
filling your head with tuneful entertainment by itself. Like Of Montreal or the
Television Personalities, The Solipsistics also invoke a bit of charming oddity
and unpredictable cynicism, pushing the band out of the radio-friendly,
ready-for-prime-time realm and into an underground music fan`s
dreamland."-SplendidEZine. Looking for cookie cutter, predictable and safe pop?
Not here. Going forward into something different that is still easy to hold
down? Listen on! Extremely Highly Recommended!
