Cro-Magnon's most incredible album yet -- a killer
set of spacey tunes with heavy drums, richly
textured keyboard grooves, and all around cosmic
atmosphere! III finds the trio still working in the
70s jazz funk and swirling soul of the earlier
records, they but also bring in some heavier proggy
touches in spots. That's an element that worked
very well on the Great Triangle LP, and it's taken
to an even more riveting realm on this one --
particularly on the track "Diablo Anastasis".
Still, they're groove hounds at heart, and the keys
and funky soul jazz is the key approach. The trio
of Shigekazu Otake on drums & percussion, Tsuyoshi
Kosuga on guitar, bass & sampler, and keyboardist
Takumi Kaneko are joined by vocalist Yu Sakai on
the laidback.
