Symphonic Shades: 120 musicians performing
C64 + Amiga songs of Chris Huelsbeck.
The CD Symphonic Shades presents all songs of
the concert performed on August 23rd 2008
in Cologne, which was a world-premiere:
It was the first time a complete symphonic concert
was dedicated to the works of one video game
musician exclusively. The name of this person is
Chris Huelsbeck, whos regarded as legend among
enthusiasts for his music in game classics of
the C64- and Amiga-homecomputer era such
as "Giana Sisters" or "Turrican".
Incredible: A handful of simultaneously playable
voices of homecomputer sounds turned into
arrangements for 120 musicians of orchestra
and choir, conducted by Grammy-winning artist
Arnold Roth. The style change couldn't be more
extreme! The songs were rearranged by demoscene
legend Jonne Valtonen
(aka Purple Motion / Future Crew).
Tiny 8-bit samples or pulsewidth-modulated
square waves became violins, contrabasses,
flutes, clarinettes, horns, trumpets and grand
piano. Envelope controlled noise became drums,
timpani, cymbals, triangles ... even pottery mugs.

Merry xmas!
I named this as VA because there is
not just a single artist
...and if you like this, you SHOULD buy the CD
or I'll kill you!
