░ Amaya LauciricaΓÇÖs debut long player Sugar Lights, recorded under ░
░ the guidance of Dave McLuney at Atlantis Sound Studios in Melbourne, ░
░ is an organic, heartfelt and genuine offering. ░

░ The often sterile and constructed studio environment is ░
░ fundamentally opposed to the essence of AmayaΓÇÖs unfiltered and ░
░ emotional music. At Atlantis, however, things were different. ΓÇ£We ░
░ were in DaveΓÇÖs abode,ΓÇ¥ clarifies Amaya, ΓÇ£he is open and ░
░ relaxed, heΓÇÖs instinctive and he knows what a good take is and you ░
░ trust him ΓǪ Dave was really good at translating what we wanted ░
░ without even asking us.ΓÇ¥ ░
░ ░
░ Sugar Lights gained the interest and approval of several notables ░
░ including Mick Harvey, who offered assistance with arrangements and ░
░ recording ideas. Another contributor was Peter J. Moore who mastered ░
░ the album in Canada. ΓÇ£I was looking through my record collection ░
░ for ideas on mastering and saw PeterΓÇÖs name came up all over the ░
░ place. HeΓÇÖs produced the Cowboy Junkies and Lucinda Williams, as ░
░ well as mastering everything from Neko Case and ░
░ Emmylou Harris to J.J. Cale albums. I sent him a copy of the album ░
░ and he immediately offered to master it.ΓÇ¥ ░
░ ░
░ But those two are just the latest in a long line of music ░
░ aficionados who have clambered to get behind this artist. ΓÇ£ItΓÇÖs ░
░ comforting for people to tell you youΓÇÖre doing the right thing,ΓÇ¥ ░
░ says Amaya. ΓÇ£There is no end of keeping inspired. The need to make ░
░ art is just part of me, itΓÇÖs a constant ΓǪ Knowing that you want ░
░ people to hear it, is a separate thing.ΓÇ¥ ░

░ Amaya Laucirica was born into the rural solitude of Millicent, South ░
░ Australia. At age 18, she moved to Sydney in search of more creative ░
░ prospects. Studying design, she wrote songs as a form of solace and ░
░ as a way to deal with her isolated start. She discovered music was ░
░ more than a mere distraction. She moved to Melbourne to expand her ░
░ musical prospects and feed off the ΓÇ£ambition and drive you just ░
░ sensed around you. ΓÇ£I was slightly intimidatedΓÇ¥ she says of ░
░ MelbourneΓÇÖs musical microcosm. ░
░ ░
░ Carving out her niche, Amaya, with band in tow, cut a rough five ░
░ track demo CD that found its way to the office of Bruce Milne, head ░
░ of In-Fidelity Records, the home and launching ground for such ░
░ revered artists as Dan Kelly, The Drones and The Devastations. Bruce ░
░ fell immediately in love with AmayaΓÇÖs compelling, unique voice and ░
░ songwriting. ░
░ ░
░ By 2007 Amaya was opening for Magic Dirt and steadily gathering a ░
░ passionate group of fans. Mushroom Music Publishing were alerted to ░
░ AmayaΓÇÖs presence by Dean Turner from Magic Dirt and in the same ░
░ week the band signed their record deal, Mushroom signed her to a ░
░ world wide publishing deal. The scene was now set for the debut ░
░ album to be recorded. ░

░ Amaya Laucirica creates music that feels like a luscious, esoteric ░
░ embrace; intimate and comforting, but pure and limitless in its ░
░ attempt to give you what you need ΓÇ£New places inspire meΓǪ I need ░
░ to keep moving. I love being on the road,ΓÇ¥ and for the immediate ░
░ future Amaya hopes ΓÇ£to collaborate with other musicians, and who ░
░ knows who that could be.ΓÇ¥ What does the future hold for Amaya? ░
