the fifth volume of dope on plastic has, once again, been
conceptualised by bristol's dr jam aka mixmag journalist john
stapleton, he of legendary 'the cooker' fame, the seminal west
country funketeria that set the scene for the slowbeat jams. john,
whose produces as the hidden chipsters and now as mcmurdo sound,
has been playing and promoting hip-hop, funk, and jazz for several
years around the uk and europe, and recently toured australia with
krash slaughta and plans to return in march for the winter sun.
dr. jam can be caught in residence at his monthly night, blow pop
at the blue mountain in bristol, where the club celebrates its
second birthday with a performance from the freestylers, and on the
28th of feburary with a dope 5 party including a live set from the
minneapolis break beat king, freddy fresh.
having enjoyed massive critical acclaim as one of the original
eclectic dubbed out compilations, the new album features the
strongest line-up to date with chartbound sounds from: the
