Instead of building up to earthquaking mayhem as
heard by floor minded underground jocks, Commix
wisely chooses to aim for the mind with a
selection of intelligently crafted tuneage. The
mix opens with the laid-back LTJ Bukem-esque tune
of Life We Live by Commix themselves, after which
they slowly build up to more energetic tracks
without missing out on the beauty that resides
between the irregular drums and hi-hatting. Rufige
Crew's Sometime Sad Day smoothly strolls in with a
speedy rhythm combined to warm, soothing strings.
The mix continues to switch between faster and
more easy going tunes but maintains a solid vibe
at all times due to prolific mixing. This way, the
brutal bass-lines of Data's The Causeway blend
perfectly with Murderation by Logistics, after
which Calibre's vox-fueled Can't Get Over You and
Lynx & Alix Perez ft. Kemo's Dangerous (and this
is one hell of a DnB smasher!) form a unique
partnership that aims for both the feet as the
soul. More adrenaline-raising material comes in
the form of Commix' own monotone but heavy hitting
Bear Music and the appropriately titled Old School
Ting by Breakage. The mix then finishes with some
firework set off by Instra:mental (the doomy No
Future), Photek's laid-back experiment that is
Yendi, and closing track Photograph by
Instra:mental, a track that leaves the listener in
a state of trance on a sea of thick, somewhat
melancholic strings and pads.
