▐███▄▄ BOSS proudly presents the OneWorld Punk Funk Special ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ broadcast on Radio 1 on Friday 30th May 2003 ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ...some people call it Disco Punk, some people call ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ it punk funk, some people call it No Wave, some ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ people call it Disco Pogo, some people call it Death ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Disco, it doesn't really matter who calls it what... ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ the point is, that barriers are being broken. ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Pounding bass lines, sharp guitars and beats to die ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ for are being juxtaposed into a fantastic melting ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ pot that is blowing up dancefloors around the ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ country. ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ We talk to key players in this 'scene', James Murphy ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ and Tim Goldsworthy from the DFA (Death From Above) ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ and LCD Soundsystem, they tell us how the music they ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ were previously involved with was stale and what ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ spurred them on to make the music they do... they ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ play us their remixes and choose tracks that have ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ been pivotal in creating the DFA sound. ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ We also have an exclusive interview with The ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Rapture, a punk band that have managed to infiltrate ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ UK club culture effortlessly with the seminal 'House ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Of Jealous Lovers'. They tell us about their much ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ anticipated album and talk to us about their ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ relationship with the producers of this album, the ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ DFA. ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ We bring Radio 4's politically aware Anthony Roman ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ record shopping and get him to tell us about tracks ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ that has influenced his music along the way... ( I ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ did buy the tracks by the way... they're safely ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ tucked into my record collection !) ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ We have an in depth interview with Output Recordings ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ owner and DJ/ Producer Trevor Jackson... and he ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ mixes up 40 minutes of the music he loves, including ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Output releases old and new and tracks that are ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ popular in the 'scene with no name' as he calls it. ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ And lastly we hear form up and coming LA band The ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ Moving Units, who play us exclusive tracks from ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ their forthcoming album... ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ We can't guarantee that you're gonna end up knowing ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ what Punk Funk is, cos no one seems to know, most of ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ all the artists who are claimed to be making it! But ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ you will hear some of the most challenging, exciting ▐███▀▄
▐███▄▄ music you've ever heard in your life >> Enjoy! ▐███▀▄
