Ransom (Replicas Are Never Seen Or Mentioned) has been quietly making tracks
since the early 90's and is finally set to release his long awaited first full
length HipHop LP, on Homework Records. His first releases were on Disorda's
Suspect Packages label, where he was one third of the group 'Free Form',
alongside DefTex's Chrome and Son Records mc D.P.F. He began his career in the
Norwich HipHop group 'Lyrikal Justice' who were unsung heroes of the early 90's
rap scene having played support for the likes of UK legends Hijack amongst many
other classic gigs. Ransom has also supported US greats Mad Skills, Shabazz the
Disciple (Wu Tang Clan) and DJ Noize amongst others.
'The Messengers' EP is the first release from the fourthcoming long player
'Hunger Pains' due for release May 2009. Ransom has teamed up with Chrome from
DefTex on production and Ill Inspired as a guest M.C. The original mix is a
party banger with infectious horns, rolling drums and clever wordplay, with
punchy delivery from both Ransom and Ill Inspired. There are 2 other mixes, one
from Chrome where he has gone for a more Jazz fusion style beat that will
definitely work in the clubs, whilst the third is remixed by Mr. Stone who has
switched up the track to give it a harder and darker feel. The EP is finished
off with 'Got the style right' an extra track which will prepare the listener
for what to expect from the album.
