dXb Gas project, and certainly The Sight Below doesn't dXb
dXb shrink from the likeness. Both "At First Touch" and dXb
dXb "Dour" resemble Voigt's throbbing lullabies; they dXb
dXb emanate the same kind of easy rest, like living dXb
dXb organisms at peace and slow-breathed. But when The Sight dXb
dXb Below allows the seams around his guitar treatments to dXb
dXb show as with the elongated guitar drones of "Without dXb
dXb Motion" or the swaying, beatless froth of "Further dXb
dXb Away," he stresses the tools over their effects. He dXb
dXb moves away from what at times seems like an almost dXb
dXb naturally-captured emotionality, a sound design at once dXb
dXb formed in the studio but also somehow bell-jarring dXb
dXb overnight stillness, bird hush. It's these moments where dXb
dXb his moodiness is most distinctive. The e-bow guitar of dXb
dXb "Life's Fading Light"ùand yes, his titles are dXb
dXb cheerlessly aptùripples and sways into its sudden meaty dXb
dXb rhythms, while "Nowhere" is even more effortless in its dXb
dXb expanse, with static singing the edge of guitars that dXb
dXb linger and moan so long they begin to resemble classical dXb

dXb Though I hesitate to return to the comparison, dXb
dXb inevitably many who hear Glider will write it off as dXb
dXb sometimes a too-literal approximation of one of modern dXb
dXb electronic music's monoliths. But The Sight Below dXb
dXb alludes to the British rock music of the late '80s/early dXb
dXb '90s just as much as classical or ambient works, and dXb
dXb patient listeners will soon notice just how sturdy his dXb
dXb tracks are for all of their affected fragility. After dXb
dXb all, Gas is finished, The Field's making hotel dXb
dXb soundtracks and Kranky's offering Windy & Carl records dXb
dXb mark XXII (not a complaint). Sure, The Sight Below may dXb
dXb owe such artists a drink or two, but on his debut he's dXb
