│ Debut dubstep business from Pacheko for US │
│ hardcore dubstep imprint Lo Dubs backed with │
│ mighty remixes from Cardopusher and │
│ man-of-the-moment Starkey. The original │
│ versions of 'Tryouts' and 'Bi-polar bear' │
│ come from that screaming electro synthline │
│ school of steppage with chunky halfstepped │
│ beats to hold up the riffage, but it's the │
│ Starkey mix that will draw all the attention │
│ on this platter with a typically ace mash of │
│ grimy 8-bit melodics and swift riddim │
│ switches to cause much madness in the dance. │
│ Musically, "Tryouts" and "Bi-Polar Bear" are │
│ structured akin to the golden era Moving │
│ Shadow (Think Hyper-On Experience a la │
│ "Distubance" applied to dubstep) in that each │
│ track has a series of distinct movements. │
│ "Tryouts", for instance, starts out quite │
│ aggressive, yet ends dubby. As a way to add │
│ to the material's versatility, the two tracks │
│ on the A side are mastered with no dead space │
│ between them, so one can in effect mix in │
│ from any movement on the record or just │
│ listen to it straight through, like the │
│ Bohemian Rhapsody of dubstep. │
