Release Notes:
Despite having been in existence for less than a year, Chew
Lips are already an intriguing proposition, welding Hot
Chip-esque electronics (albeit a lot less sophisticated) to
vocals that echo Yeah Yeah YeahÆs Karen O and orchestral
strong washes.
The band have already received support from Steve Lamacq and
The Guardian, who made them New Band Of The Day back in
November, plus there is a very promising sampler doing the
rounds.
That said, Solo isnÆt quite as good as you û and most probably
the band themselves û want it to be: the beats are a touch
tinny and the melody doesnÆt really grab the attention. On the
plus side, however, is a lovely rolling bass line and singer
Tigs does have a beautifully expressive voice.
