All You Have To Do Is Cry is a the kind of track that
signposts its influences a mile off, yet brings so little to
the table that listening to it becomes an absolute chore. Toy
Band are obviously proficient musicians who are heavily
influenced by 60s era psych-pop, but fail to catch the spark
that acts like The Coral and The Zutons have worked on this
genre.
The jangly guitars are there, the nimble bass work is there,
but the originality that is not there is what leaves the
biggest impact on the mind. The other songs on the bandÆs
MySpace page have a bit more about them, but this really just
sounds like it could be the winning entry on a skiffle version
of X-Factor.
