Known internationally for their cross-pollinations of pop and techno,
DetroitÆs Matthew Dear and BerlinÆs Ellen Allien share a place at the
fore of the underground. Having toured North America together in 2005,
the two agreed to transpose their dynamic to vinyl. Dear emphasizes the
strongest elements of his Audion guise on ôJust a Manö, while Allien
serves up a fine slice of noir electro with ôJust a Womanö. Between the
two original pieces, each artist reworks the other. As a common space
for two of technoÆs most creative minds, ôJust a Man/Womanö is an
unprecedented battle of the sexes where each side makes an iron-clad
case. LetÆs call it a truce.
