| |
| studio 1, founded in 1995, is one of profans sublabels which |
| features wolfgang voigts (label owner) best ideas of an |
| independent, unique version of minimal techno. by strictly |
| following the maxim "less is more", the sound of studio 1 and |
| its legendary colour design have gained international cult |
| status under the term "cologne minimalism". the project studi |
| 1 will be continued in irregular intervals on profan. the lab |
| itself is limited to the famous ten releases. |
| |
| the invention of minimal techno. this label (and also act) wa |
| founded by wolfgang voigt in the early 90s in cologne. it was |
| series of ten records, which were made to show the world what |
| minimal techno in its essence is. each of the records had a |
| different color and each of them was made by studio 1 and |
| released on studio 1. the tracks and the records had no names |
| after this 10 releases a cd compilation followed with some |
| unreleased tracks as well. after a long time of silence (when |
| voigt spent time with some of his other projects) the act |
| studio 1 was reactivated. studio 1 now releases on the mother |
| label profan, because "studio 1 ist eine abteilung von profan |
| schallplatten koeln." |
