When I was placed in my newly fitted recovery room, fitted with
freshly starched linens and the scent of refined, industrial use
chemical cleaning agents, permeating the air, I felt at home. Left in
a so-called, "comfortable position", my head was tilted towards the
screen. They had pressed the power button and I was immersed in a
world of suburban - sit along and watch with your neighbours, game
shows. The smell of hairspray and lemon fresh
washed after a single use
polo shirts,
came back to me,
as I watched that wheel go.
How the sense of smell can call back such vivid memories, such
different memories. How the smell of toast can mean an impending
seizure. An instantaneous history jolt brought on by the scent of
memory. The primitive instinct of smell, if it was possible to
retrieve some sort of genetic pheromone or scent, by means of our DNA,
could it trigger memories of ancient life? The universal
consciousness of scent, that sounds crazy, doesn't it?
I'm laying there hooked to a fancy ensemble of breathing devices and
an extravagant array of doodads to better measure my every single
moment, not sure what to wonder next.
I then
think to myself.
Why am I here?
And
what happens next?
-As you may have noticed, first 3 tracks are all named the same. Hope
it doesnt confuse anyone, too much. My head is in a whirl, oh yes.
You can hear some of the same sounds in another Koner record, (I
thought so anyway) won't say which one - I'll leave it up to you to
listen it out. If you're a Koner fan I don't think you'll be
disapointed.
