| Digital Hardcore Recordings is a label which's music destroys |
| brain cells of normal clubers. These clubers have always |
| thought that DHR's music is cacophony of brutal sounds. It's |
| not. They just crossed the frontiers and went to the edge, |
| where the insanity is going to start in your brain and you can |
| just push STOP or REPEAT. Simon Herbertson wrote this: "Digital |
| Hardcore is beats/rhythms so complicated and unpredictable that |
| you can never know them and never be bored with them". He |
| caught the truth. All tracks are special, gifted in some way |
| and mad. There are brutal dance tracks, fucking energetic |
| melodic trips, frantic electronic punk (The Prodigy sounds like |
| shit for children after hearing tracks from Atari Teenage Riot) |
| or pure jungle which will make your body move. Bags of |
| digitalized energy that's the Digital Hardcore. It's not just |
| music but the whole philosophy of life style. People like Alec |
| Empire, Atari Teenage Riot or EC8OR fuck on your opinion of |
| their music, it doesn't care, if you like or don't like it. |
| They've made it for their pleasure and for people who are |
| interested in boudless experiments with dangerous sounds. Check |
| DHR's philosophy on their internet pages and you will |
| understand. |

| Mainstream dance music has long been a sorry bag of piss. |
| Techno, house and trance have all outstayed their welcome, and |
| are now really beginning to annoy me. Insipid, uninspired |
| drivel with vapid "lyrics" and no apparent desire to challenge, |
| unnerve or offend - in case the profits stop rolling in. Fuck |
| them all, that's what I say. Digital Hardcore Records also |
| invite you to raise a middle digit towards these feeble |
| charlatans, and with compilations as utterly fucking |
| exhilarating as Riot Zone (the successor to 1995's |
| soon-to-be-legendary Harder Than The Rest collection), the |
| trendy scum should soon be scuttling back to their 80s revival |
| nights and horrific Mexican beers. |
| As you may have already deduced, I am somewhat hysterical in my |
| enthusiasm for this label's output and up until now I would |
| have had trouble picking one album to recommend to the |
| uninitiated. However, Riot Zone features all my DHR pals and a |
| few new names too. Ec80r and Atari Teenage Riot are reviewed |
| elsewhere, Christoph de Babalon likewise, but all weigh in with |
| crushing contributions (including Mr. De Babalon's unspeakably |
| great My Confession). The fresh thrills here come from the |
| likes of Shizuo (sort of Pizzicato 5 meets ATR) and the frankly |
| breathtaking Bomb 20, whose two tracks perfectly highlight |
| exactly why you needn't ever bother with that Sash tosspot. |
