'Ellende' is a Dutch word which translates to 'misery'. Indeed, no
holiday passes in this world without a suicide or other fatality
arising from it. The sounds contained on this release are of a
darkly peculiar nature: distorted vocal samples, lost dirges,
ionizing electronic atmospheres, drones of alien origin. The working
methods of Ellende may account for some of this, as newer members
remain unknown to the older. This anonymity seeps into the music,
producing an uneasy feeling of being watched by strangers, as if a
grotequely-masked Greek chorus might suddenly appear behind you and
pause for several minutes before lamenting the tragic procession of
life. Tinged with an impersonal dryness and a mathematical vastness,
this recording is sure to leave you perplexed and floating somewhere
in the ether, abandoned by fate. 113 minutes of post-industrial
presence in a double CD-R release.
