having just finished her first us tour supporting the virgins,
adopted new york resident, lissy trullie releases her
(self-produced) debut uk single 'boy boy', on makemine
records. the single comes amid much excitement in the us about
her, having captivated audiences with her performances at last
year's cmj showcase. a confident yet effortless performer,
lissy has been playing guitar since she was 11. her love of
music began at an early age and was perhaps cemented when she
used to be taken to operation ivy gigs when just 9 years old.
first single, 'boy boy' is the perfect example of her ability
to pen hook-laden, sharp-tongued songs that live and breath
the spirit of chrissie hynde, blondie and television. there is
a simple elegance to lissy's music. from her unique vocal
styling (that knows just when to move up a tone) to her
unadorned guitar work to her coy but razor sharp lyrics, as
seen in 'boy boy's opening couplet: "you've got a funny face /
and a crooked smile / you're a prince in some world / but not
in mine". the single's flip-side you bleed you is a gentler,
woozy effort highlighting lissy's depth of song writing.
