Release Notes:
Toronto post-punk weirdoes dd/mm/yyyy have been
gradually building their project into something big
for a long time, and itÆs looking like the first
quarter of 2009 will be when everything reaches a
boiling point, as theyÆve announced that theyÆll
release their third full-length, Black Square, and
embark on a grueling three-month trek across North
America.
According to the band, Black Square ôis the
by-product of van-confined wanderlust, inevitable
maturity and our growing comfort level in the
studio environment. We do not deviate too far from
our origin, but thereÆs an inherent seriousness
that may have evaded previous releases.ö The album
will be available digitally on February 17, and
will be available in real life on March 17 via
Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies and amazing
Swedish imprint Deleted Art.
The band will kick off their massive North American
tour in early February, where theyÆll spend two
weeks on the road with math rock sensations Don
Caballero and Hella side-project sBACH. From there,
the band will pop up to Canada for four dates with
Sylvie in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and
Winnipeg. Then itÆs back to the States for a whole
bunch of shows leading up to their busy SXSW
weekend. The whole thing is rounded out with some
early April dates in the Maritimes, Toronto and
Montreal, including an LP release party at LeeÆs
Palace in Toronto on April 16.
