Drew Stiles is a singer/songwriter residing in Los Angeles, New York and
Switzerland. His newly released debut album is reminiscent of the Beatles,
Beck and Elliott Smith, and explores the mix of the many sides of the human
experience.
Stiles grew up in a musical family -- his father played trumpet with the likes
of Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennet, etc. As a child,
Stiles often accompanied his Dad to recording sessions and concerts, quietly
observing and absorbing, which indelibly emblazoned him with an unconscious
understanding of music.
With instruments lying around the house, Drew taught himself guitar, bass and
drums by playing along to his favorite bands. He considers his talents a sort
of accident, as he never intended to 'become' a musician. As a kid who felt
alienated from the race to which he supposedly belonged, music was his primary
connection with the humanity. In his words, Stiles says, æMusic saved my ass.

He started his first rock band, Yummy, which became a fixture in the New York
music scene, headlining gigs at Wetlands, Webster Hall, CBGB's and Brownies.
As the singer, songwriter and leader of Yummy, the experiences helped DrewÆs
talents flourish, culminating in StilesÆs writing and producing Yummy's debut
album, ElegantΘ, which was released on an indie label.
With a DIY attitude, the album was met with rave reviews and garnered the
attention of filmmakers, TV producers and advertising execs. Creative
contributions and collaborations followed, including a Panasonic TV commercial
and print ad campaign, film scores and performances with World Wrestling
Entertainment.
Eventually, Stiles began to evolve in a new direction creatively. A softer
style of songs began to appear - intimate and sparse - inspiring the creation
of his first solo album, which was recorded on a portable 4-track while
couch-surfing in Los Angeles and New York.
Drew Stiles' self-titled debut is direct, delicate and raw - sad and joyous,
hopeful and jaded, playful at times, but serious as fuck. It is music from a
person with songs floating around in his head, songs about being a human in
this wacky world, laid down as purely as possible.
