Great work from one of the freshest jazz combos around -- a quartet that
features the lead talents of saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar and trumpeter
Goran Kajfes, both of whom we love from other records! The style here is a
mix of 60s-influenced modern jazz and some of the more rhythmic modes
explored by Kajfes in Oddjob -- a style that almost recalls some of the
more soulful moments of the New York avant scene of the ESP and early loft
jazz years -- but which is inflected here with some deeper experiments in
tone and sound texture that link the work nicely to other sides from the
recent Scandinavian scene. Titles include "Almost Seedless" -- which could
go onto become something of a club jazz number on its own -- plus
"Siblings", "Mount Everest", "YCGTH", "Frippon", and "Toe Cut Capri"
