Release Notes:
Already known individually for their, ahem, unorthodox vocal
stylings, the three singers of Swan Lake nevertheless managed
to jell on their aptly titled 2006 debut, Beast Moans. Think
of Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown), Dan Bejar
(Destroyer, the New Pornographers) and Carey Mercer (Frog
Eyes) as the Crosby, Stills & Nash for the American
Apparel-clad set. This time around, it seems they're trying to
duck the abominable "literary" tag by naming their album after
a sci-fi romp from the mid-'80s. But early peeks at "Paper
Lace" and "Heartswarm" reveal the same boys we've always
known: a trio of word-drunk kooks, hung up on romancing.
