If you're in a band as successful as Depeche Mode, then it's a ░█
brave move to step outside it's comfortable confines after 22 ░█
years and face the flak of a debut solo project. ░█
Dave Gahan has finally struck out alone, albeit temporarily, and ░█
recorded his solo debut album. He has roped in multi ░█
instrumentalist friend Knox Chandler to deal with the fiddly bits,░█
leaving himself free to concentrate on the misery. ░█
░█
At the end of the nineties Gahan won his battle against drug ░█
addiction and this fight against his demons infuses ░█
æPaper MonstersÆ. Ten songs of defiant desperation highlight ░█
his self-inflicted pain, on Dirty Sticky Floors Gahan offers ░█
what is perhaps an all too familiar image: Ill soon be lying ░█
on my own; On some dirty sticky floor. ░█
░█
A good choice as the first single, it is the most up-tempo ░█
song on the album, with strong guitar inflections ░█
from Chandler. ░█
░█
And now for his fans in the scene here is his performance ░█
at Rock am Ring 2003 Festival (Germany) ░█
dated 7th of June 2003. ░█
