Cult and very rare soundtrack album by
Franτois de Roubaix. Amazing jazz &
symphonic pop groove with female chorus
and a pinch of psychedelism.
Heavy beats with effects, wild organ and
superb string arrangements.

L'Homme Orchestre is one of the relatively
few films Francois De Roubaix scored for
an orchestra.

The composer had become famous for his
home studio, synthesizer music and general
maverick tendencies, yet for this film by Serge
Korber, De Roubaix settles into a more
conventional role, using strings, brass and the
kind of beat-group rhythm sections that wer
all but obligatory back when this was
made (1969).

The film itself, L'Homme Orchestre looks truly
bizarre (the booklet includes liner notes by Serge
Korber himself in addition to a host of
accompanying stills), and while the music does
occasionally match the flat-out zaniness of the
imagery - venturing into the neighbouring domains
of kitsch and whimsy throughout - the overall feel
of the composition is reasonably in-keeping with
the orchestral funk sounds of the Axelrods and
Vanniers of the period.
