PIRX is an improvising working-band, found 2004
by Marion Woerle (laptop) and Maciej Sledziecki
(guitar). PIRX is working on a musical language, based
on interaction between analogue and digital sounds.
Generally analogue material used by Marion Woerle
is developed by diverse electronic manipulations
to a dynamic, flexible system.
Maciej Sledziecki uses the guitar as a sound-generator
and percussion-instrument. Preparations and a sparesome use of
electronic effects are characteristic for his playing. sounds
form the material for the collective improvisation between
tonal and atonal poles.
PIRX was nominated 2006 as one of the projects for "Musik
Aktuell" in Austria and plans a residency at STEIM/NL in 2008.
They wrote music for movies that were presented on festivals
like Oberhausener Kurzfilmlmtage, Berlinale or Hotdocs /
Toronto, and won awards like Best International Feature
Documentary.
Since 2005 they are organizing the concert-series NACHTJOURNAL
in Cologne (D), that became a platform for international
artist from the electronic and acoustic field of experimental
music. As co-founders and driving forces of the Platform
for adventurous music - ZAM e.V. they are working on
interdisciplinary projects, and organizing structures.
For the MusikTriennaleKoeln they were artistic directors
of the three-days festival *computer.music. instrument*, that
focused on the computer as an musical instrument. Further on
they are teaching improvisation to movies
and film-music in the projects "Stadt Klang
Netz" and "nimm!"
