"Curious sonicscapes exploring pensive, unfamiliar avenues within the
dark ambient void: Not simply happy to regurgitate the same dark
rhythmic sonicscapes of their previous releases, Blink Twice have gone
the route of sonic exploration. The Demon Haunted World is an eclectic
blend of sound textures-unfamiliar timbres within the aural vortex-as
driven by a variety of kinetic rhythmic nuances (from tribal
interjections to synth pulses to...). A straightforward, rat-tat-tat
uzi-thrust percussive intrusion disrupts the looped engine emission
flow of "Disruptor." Eerie spirits disperse into clouds of radiation
amidst a solemn piano line during the title track; further in, the
spirits are resurrected, the desolate, odd tones augmented by tonally
unusual synths. "On Dark Theories" casts a shadow of breath and sorrow
before spurting percussion and caustic scraping taps valves in an
imitation of breathing, machines cautiously rapturous in their mocking
display, intermittent, almost whimsical rhythms bobbing up from the
morose synth pool. Most of the tracks unfurl in curious waves that can
only be perceived as unexpected, quite alive, and fascinating. Another
fine venture, further expanding the scope of what Possessive Blindfold
Recordings releases."
