│ Releasenotes: fresh from his adventures at the "play boy mansion", the man │
│ from paris has put together a golden selection of some of │
│ the least known and hardest to find disco tracks. rare does │
│ not always equal quality, but the almost religious fervour │
│ with which dimitri from paris djs and makes records, this │
│ time round equals just that. │
│ │
│ for those who don't know, dimitri has been djing for almost │
│ twenty years. initially influenced by early hip hop, he went │
│ on to be called up for remix duties with brand new heavies, │
│ bjork, new order, and james brown. his last album 'sacre │
│ bleu' was voted "album of the year" in 1996 and went on to │
│ sell hundreds of thousands of copies, with a release in the │
│ usa in 1998. we've read this "postcard from paris", now he's │
│ here to join the b.b.e. family - we welcome him! │
│ │
│ like dave lee's "disco spectrum" series, many of the tunes │
│ on 'disco forever' have provided the blueprint for modern │
│ dance music. the beauty of this album is to realise how the │
│ music has not dated - it still makes the modern dance floor │
│ go crazy. available on triple lp and double cd (plus one mix │
│ cd by dimitri from paris), from the monumental eleven-minute │
│ -barely breaking even (finally the label where their name │
│ came from) by the universal robot band, to the familiar │
│ ain't no stopping us now by charanga 76, dimitri from paris │
│ serves us up an education in what the disco sound is to him. │
