Release Notes:
Jerome Sydenham, the man behind Ibadan Records brings us ôEXPLOSIVE HI-FIDELITY
SOUNDSö, recorded earlier this summer at Club Neighbourhood Lond..
Best known for his success with ôSandcastlesö (produced with Dennis Ferrer),
this mix CD gives an insight into the musical influences that have helped shape
SydenhamÆs ôPan-African Electroö sound. While his programming hints at his roots
in the New York house community, it also showcases a sense of individuality
gained from a diverse cultural and musical experience that spans three
continents (Africa, Europe and N America).
From Detroit techno with Carl CraigÆs mesmerizing ôSandstormsö to the Germanic
edged production of Danish artist Trentemoller to gospel house in the form of
Dennis FerrerÆs ôGratefulö featuring Kenny Bobien, Sydenham creates a
sophisticated fusion of dance genres and by doing so delivers a portrait of a
truly original DJ.. ôExplosive Hi-Fidelity Soundsö revels in the perceived
contrasts between urban tech beats and organic, Afro influenced pieces
punctuated by songs that people can sing along to. The track listing also draws
from his own stable of Sydenham / Ibadan classics. Pete HellerÆs re-edit of
Sandcastles and last yearÆs Cocoon anthem ôTimbuktuö are in the mix along with
the Django Reinhardt inspired, DJ Oji organ and percussion blaster ôEstebanö.
Also featured exclusively on this mix CD youÆll find Sydenham &Mikael NordgrenÆs
Stockholm-Go Bang! currently in heavy rotation in clubs throughout Ibiza and
destined to become one of this summerÆs runaway hits.
