█ Music by Ry Cooder, reads the credit, which means █
█ that the brief, eclectic score for this political █
█ satire was compiled by Cooder and that he played █
█ on much of it, though he is credited or █
█ co-credited as a composer on only four of 14 █
█ selections, which is the same number of composer █
█ credits his son Joachim gets. Both father and son █
█ turn in the occasional orchestral piece that █
█ sounds like traditional soundtrack music. But █
█ there is also Americana in the form of versions of █
█ "Camptown Races" and "You Are My Sunshine," as █
█ well as Latin sounds from Perez Prado ("Silbando █
█ Mambo") and ambient music in "Wide Sky," █
█ co-written and performed by trumpeter Jon Hassell. █
█ It's appropriate music for a film that ranges from █
█ the backwoods to the hustings and from broad █
█ comedy to intense melodrama, and like all Ry █
█ Cooder scores, it's eminently listenable outside █
█ the movie theater. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music █
