█ This disc actually contains music from two █
█ soundtracks. Besides Thomas Newman's score for █
█ Desperately Seeking Susan there are also some 15 █
█ minutes of music from Chaz Jankel's score for █
█ Making Mr Right (1987), another Susan █
█ Seidelman-picture. Newman's score is very much the █
█ superior one, not only because of the great █
█ diversity of themes and motives, but also because █
█ of Newman's use of accoustic instruments along █
█ with the electronics. Rhythm is the basis of this █
█ score and a great many ethnic instruments are used █
█ to accentuate the place of the action, New York. █
█ The city is, after all, today's jungle. This music █
█ is definitly an early work of Newman, with a lot █
█ of repetition and a great influence of rock-music. █
█ There are no real catchy themes here, it's more █
█ like he has created an urban symphony for ethnic █
█ instruments. While the score is short, it made a █
█ big impression and it was the score that got █
█ Newman noticed as a film composer. █
