Release Notes:
It's a simple idea: two bands, remixing each other's work.
FOUND "sounds like a punch up between Paolo Nutini and Captain
Beefheart," according to News of the World, and Drowned in Sound
described them as "so progressive, so completely unique [...] we should
be celebrating the euphoria created by their extraordinary
kaleidoscopic soundscapes". They started as an arts collective, and
their wonky sound has taken right across the festival and remix circuit
- King Creosote, T in the Park, and SXSW coming up.
TOOB, meanwhile, released the very first Process Recordings longplayer,
"Push Me, Pull You". Described as "One of the year's most ambitious
dance albums" by Q and "Electronic Heaven... One of 2008's best albums"
by DJ, it was also "leftfield pop album of the year" for Bleep. It's
the brainchild of Rich Thair of Red Snapper, and singer and
instrumentalist Jakeone, with Wendy Stubbs of Alpha as a regular on
vocals.
And now we have Toob reinterpreting FOUND's "Reshaping" with Toob's
usual electric attention to live drums alongside a trailing, nagging
acid line pulled straight outta Berlin and a distorted take on gospel
vocals. And on the reverse of the limited vinyl, we've got FOUND giving
Toob a new Motown-style beat, violins, and sax.
