Dave Preston brings another excellent set, this time
featuring guest dj Ali Ajami.
Dave Preston
Born and raised in Miami, Dave was always interested in
a variety of musical styles ranging from classic rock to
hip hop and reggae ΓÇô however, his first experience
with House music wasnΓÇÖt until he began attending
college in Gainesville, Florida. He began DJing in 1997,
inspired by the sounds of regulars at the legendary
clubs Simons and Soulhouse, and has not looked back.
Since then, while still attending school, he has
steadily made a name for himself as one of Florida's up
and coming talents. Last year Dave was asked to be a
resident at Gainesville's Vibe Nightclub and has since
opened for many of the top jocks in the world, including
Phil K, James Zabiela, Steve Porter, Infusion, PQM, and
many more. He also began a monthly residency at the
legendary Simons, playing alongside longtime Simons
resident and good friend Joe C. for their 'I Love Music'
events. Dave also played at the last 2 'Gemini' events
at Simons, playing alongside Deep Dish in 2001 and
opening for Danny Howells in 2002.
In addition to his club gigs, Dave hosts his own show
'Rhythmaculture' on Protonradio.com every 2nd and 4th
Saturday of the month from 2-6pm EDT, gaining accolades
from dance music enthusiasts from around the world. Dave
is also a co-founder of Forwardthinkingmusic.com,
devoted to promoting artists that are pushing the
boundaries of dance music. Not satisfied with merely
playing other peopleΓÇÖs music, Dave has flexed his
creative muscles with numerous production projects over
the past year, working with highly regarded producers
such as Sphere, Phil K and Habersham (The Operators),
Darkarma (Velvet Couch), Joe Amoros, Hisham Samawi and
Relisys, and Marcus from Digital Witchcraft. His
collaboration with Sphere was included on disc 2 of Phil
K's Balance CD, released in October of 2002, and his
other projects have received support from DJ's around
the world. Fusing breaks, techno and house, Dave Preston
is one to watch.
