Keishi
Embracing the sounds of Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Remy,
Satoshi Tomiie and Hybrid as well as regional/
Singaporean DJs Andy Lee, Yukun, and Tony Tay, Keishi
plays a melting pot of all those influences. A general
set would best be described as quality fast - paced
progressive house laced with an atmospheric soundscape
with a hint of tribal-tech house and break beats thrown
in for added variation. His preference for this genre
and its sub-hybrids is so because of the energy it is
able to generate and the ability to use to take the
audience on an aural journey.
Back in 1998, Keishi was offered to play a warm-up slot
at the infamous Destination: Unknown I @ Joo Chiat. He
has since taken on the decks at just about all the
biggest clubs in Singapore - Centro, Zouk, Phuture,
Embassy and Double 0; and has spun in globally acclaimed
events - Global Underground, Ministry of Sound's
Essential NYE 2003, Space Ibiza World Tour, as well as
Progres-z at Club Nighttown in Rotterdam, Holland.
A half-year stint in The Netherlands during the autumn
of 2001 exposed Keishi to the forward thinking Dutch
influenced progressive sounds of local residents Michel
De Hey, Remy, Lemon8, Lucien Foort and Pako & Federik.
Contacts and networks were established during this time
- Keishi's perseverance was rewarded when he was invited
to display his deck skills in various record stores
(Basic Beat Records), international student parties and
other long standing clubs like Nighttown in Rotterdam.
Returning to Singapore after, Keishi's name has been
billed on the club flyers alongside international
artists such as Djs Sander Klienenberg, Dave Seaman,
Slacker, Lucien Foort, Kasey Taylor, Electric Tease and
Space Ibiza resident Jose De Devina.
Being one of the members of the Groove Genetics
consortium in Singapore and Substance Management, Kuala
Lumpur has also raised his profile in the regional
scene. In addition, his mixes have been featured on
premier dance websites such as "www.inthemix.com.au".
Keishi is also one of the international correspondents
of the premier progressive house dance site based in The
Netherlands - Xpander.nl and Xpander.tv. Along with
fellow counterparts based in Tokyo, Japan, Keishi is
responsible for coordinating the party information; and
interviews for visiting international djs in Asia.
In past 2 years, Keishi has been actively contributing
to the spreading of the gospel of dance music by
organizing dance events focusing on bringing the talents
of local progressive house djs to the masses. These
concept parties include the likes of Level: X (together
with Microsoft Xbox and Xpander.nl), Resonance (together
with Frontal Labs) and D>U.B concept parties; at various
club venues such as Centro and Milk Bar.
Of late, Keishi has gained many new fans during his
latest outing at the JUICE DJ Quest 2002 and Universal
Music/ U2 DJ competitions 2002 held in Phuture; and
Embassy respectively. In both contests, Keishi took the
top prize home by pipping the rest of the contestants in
various categories such as crowd reaction, creativity,
showmanship, and track selection. His live mixes were
also well-received in spin slots in radio stations such
as Singapore's Perfect 10 98.7 (Coke Soundlabs) and
Kuala Lumpur's RedFM.
Off the decks, he continues to keep himself updated and
in touch with djs and news from the region and around
the globe - constantly sourcing for opportunities to
promote and enhance the business direction of
GarageSaleShop.com, his pet project.
